Sujet : Fondée en 1881 par John D. Spreckels & Brothers, l’Oceanic Steamship Company propose dans un premier temps des liaisons maritimes entre les Etats-Unis et Hawaï. Quelques années plus tard, ses navires rejoignent l’Australie et la Nouvelle-Zélande, en passant aux Samoa et à Tahiti. En 1926, la compagnie est vendue à Matson Line (Mariposa & Monterey) dont elle devient une filiale.
