Shows a view framed by an overarching tree trunk, towards a bay where the Astrolabe is firing her cannon. Shows two canoes of the local Polynesian inhabitants of Mangareva Islands in French Polynesia, and local landforms and vegetation, during the visit of Dumont d’Urville in early August 1838.
